Shaina Magdayao defended best friend Bea Alonzo from rumors claiming that the latter is allegedly involved in a sex video, which Bea already denied. “We should believe her kung sinabi naman niyang wala talaga,” Shaina began. “Tsaka I doubt it [na meron.]”
Shaina admitted that it was her first time to hear about the issue when members of the press interviewed her at the pictorial of the upcoming horror film, Villa Estrella, which will also star Maja Salvador, Jake Cuenca, and Geoff Eigenmann. “Actually ngayon ko lang narinig ‘yan, pero kung sinabi niyang wala, pinawalaan natin,” she stressed.
She went on to say the she and Bea haven’t been in touch lately because they are both busy; Shaina with her movie and the daily teleserye Kambal sa Uma, while Bea is shooting a movie with Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay. “Kasi she’s very busy also. Ako dalawang linggo na akong walang tulog, halata naman sa eye bags ko, dahil nga tinatapos namin itong movie and then yung Kambal sa Uma daily kaming airing. Pero I doubt it talaga [na may video.]”
With the stiff competition waging on between the afternoon teleseryes of ABS-CBN and the rival network, Shaina is deeply grateful that viewers continue to show overwhelming support for Kambal sa Uma. “Aminin natin na malakas talaga ang afternoon slot ng kabila so nakakatakot. Pero we’re very happy sa pagtanggap ng mga tao sa panonood nila at sa pagsuporta nila sa amin. Kasi hindi talaga namin ine-expect,” Shaina admitted. “Ako tinanggap ko lang talaga ‘yung Kambal… to have work. Pero hindi ko talaga in-expect na ganun kainit ‘yung pagtanggap ng tao sa amin.”
Meantime, Shaina and her Kambal co-star Melissa also have to deal with the issue of being pitted against each other. Shaina said that she is just glad that she does not need to shoulder all the pressure for the show to do good in the ratings.
Even with her ongoing projects, Shaina is already slated for another teleserye, the adaptation of Mexican soap opera I, with Angelica Panganiban in the title role. Since Angelica would obviously come first in the billing, Shaina said that she has no problem with this. “Dapat naman talaga siguro si Angelica dahil nauna naman talaga siya sa business and siyang siya talaga si Rubi ‘di ba?” she began. Besides, she said that she can only be happy with the string of projects that test her versatility as an actress. “I’m just very happy kasi at least hindi ako nakakalimutan ng ABS-CBN at ng management. And binibigyan din ako ng freedom to experiment as an actress. Hindi lang ‘yung laging inaapi kundi may spice ‘yung roles.”
