Following in the footsteps of Grand Star Dreamer Laarni Lozada, two more ex-scholars from the Top 6 of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 got recording contracts. First Star Dreamer Bugoy Drilon and Third Star Dreamer Liezel Garcia each signed a record deal with Star Records last October 17 and both singers were happy that they will soon record their very first studio albums. “Sobrang saya kasi first time ito. Nakaka-excite na nakakakaba kasi naiisip ko rin ‘yung magiging outcome kapag nalabas na ‘yung album,” said Liezel.
Liezel would rather not make an issue about her getting a record deal first over second Star Dreamer Miguel Mendoza. “Friends naman po kami lahat. Ang success ng isa ay success ng lahat. Wala po akong alam kasi individual po yung mga projects namin, nagkakasama lang po kami kapag pareho kaming kasama sa isang show. Kaming Top 6 po iba iba po yung forte namin, I think lahat po talaga kami may project din.”
Renowned songwriter Vehnee Saturno will be producing the album of Bugoy which he described as the record that will establish the young lad’s identity as a singer. “Kasama sa album ‘yung composition ni Ryan Cayabyab na ‘Paano Na Kaya’ and Ryan will be writing another song. The album will contain six cuts. Meron kaming revivals, siguro we’ll be doing two. The rest will be all original pop-R&B,” said Vehnee.
Bugoy also has something else to be thankful for: his life story was recently featured in the top-rating drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya. The 18-year old from Camarines Norte was pleased with the high ratings and positive reviews that his life story got from the viewers. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nanood ng istorya ko sa MMK. Kay Kuya Mark Bautista at sa cast dahil kung wala sila hindi mabubuo ‘yung story ko. Salamat kasi mataas ‘yung rating,” said Bugoy.
Star Records Managing Director Annabelle Regalado-Borja expressed how happy she is for the success of the PDA2 ex-scholars in the early stage of their careers. “Star Records is very happy na ‘yung kanta ni Bugoy na ‘Paano Na Kaya’ is number in many radio stations. The PDA2 Sing Cayabyab album is doing very well, number one in all Odyssey retail outlets and is still selling like pancakes.”
