Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 Second Big Placer Ryan Bang couldn’t be more surprised when he got invited to be part of Showtime’s celebrity judges this week. Although he’s a showbiz newbie himself, the lovable Korean is determined to keep the viewers entertained with his natural charm and zest for life. “I really like it because I can enjoy with the audience right? The people always smile and say hello to me [and] I can say hi [as well]. But with the performances, I don’t know what to say. Like for one group I’d say, ‘I like it.’ Then on the next, ‘Wow, I like it.’ I don’t know what [else] to say because I like everything,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.com during a gathering for Bret Jackson and Fretzie Bercede fans.
When asked about his working relationship with his fellow judges, Ryan happily shared that everyone really made him feel welcome, especially Jhong Hilario whom he first met during his stint in PBB last summer. “They teach me [what to do]. They're really kind. Being around them feels like I’m with my family especially with Jhong. When I was inside the house, he went to PBB house. He was [our] guest teacher [back then] and he's really kind like my brother. He takes care of me.”
He also admitted that he was star-struck when he first laid his eyes on Showtime host Anne Curtis. “When I first saw her, I thought she was an angel. She's really pretty and friendly. Even her co-host Vhong (Navarro) is really funny and [very encouraging]. When we got the chance to talk, he would say, ‘Hi Ryan! You did really well.’ He's very kind. Everyone is,” he added.
Given a chance, he would love to stay on the show for a long time not because it’s a chance for him to become famous, but simply because he’s having a good time. “It’s a big show so I was really nervous at first. But then a lot of people are texting me, ‘Ryan, oh my God you’re so funny.’ Even my housemates were happy for me. But I didn’t know that Showtime's really popular. But even if it's a big show, if I don’t enjoy it, it’s not important. But now I’m really enjoying.”
Ryan shared another reason why he wants to be part of Showtime. “My face is funny so that means… I think I can make people happy. I’ve lived here in the Philippines for five years and I’ve been very happy since then. I am really lonely because my parents are back in Korea. But even before PBB, all my teachers and Filipino friends made me happy so now it’s time for me to make people happy as well. So if I have anything, a guesting in Showtime or any other entertaining show, I would definitely go for it,” he sincerely stated.
