Phoemela Baranda says age should not dictate when she should get married
by Bernie Franco | November 20, 2009 8:37 AM |

Model-turned-TV host Phoemela Baranda was launched as the endorser of local clothing line Get Laud last November 18, her first big endorsement in her five years in the industry. Phoemela also clarified that there is no rift between her and the previous endorser, Roxanne Guinoo. She said that she recently bumped into Roxanne and they had a nice conversation, proving that all is well between them. “Pareho kaming Kapamilya and we’re in different fields naman. She’s into acting, a leading lady, and me naman, TV host. I guess it’s [just] time for a change for them (the clothing brand).”

Currently a segment host on TV Patrol and The Buzz, Phoemela said that she has learned a lot in her five years as a host. “I’m so happy that I know everyone, from the press to all the artists, kaibigan ko silang lahat.” She, however, admitted that she needs to continuously keep on honing her skills in the hopes that bigger projects will come her way in the future. “I hope they could see naman that I have a lot of potential na sana magkaroon pa ako ng opportunities to show my talent.

The 29-year-old TV personality also admitted that her five-year relationship with guitarist Ira Cruz of the band Bamboo keeps on getting stronger, but they have no plans of settling down any time soon. “I’m working on it also. ‘Yung partner ko, we’re still in a good relationship naman ngayon so we don’t want to rush things also, especially in my career din hindi naman kailangan na magpakasal ako kaagad,” she said.

Phoemela said that their priorities are their careers and added that age should not determine when one should get married. “I think getting married is not the answer to dahil matanda ka na or something. We are confident about ourselves so parang for me, masasabi ko I’m wiser now and in my career, andami ko pang gustong gawin,” she said.
