Aside from being a hardworking actress, host, singer, and endorser, Toni Gonzaga is also a duly elected Barangay Kagawad in her hometown of Taytay, Rizal for five years now. With politicians already expressing their intentions to run in the coming 2010 national election, many are wondering if Toni also has plans of running either for Barangay Kagawad again or for a higher position. But during her contract signing with ABS-CBN last May 18, Toni said that she will not be running for a re-election. “Tapos na ‘yung term ko as Barangay Kagawad. Tama na siguro ‘yung term ko na nakapagsilbi ako as Barangay Kagawad for five years. Wala akong planong tumakbo uli. Bata pa ako (laughs).”
Another thing that Toni is still not ready to get into is marriage. The 25-year-old actress-host is in a two-year relationship with director Paul Soriano. Although both are from showbiz, Toni and Direk Paul have kept their relationship on a low profile so they can enjoy their privacy. But Toni had said in previous interviews that she still has other priorities over tying the knot with Direk Paul. There is a rumor though that after watching the wedding of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo on TV, she might have changed her mind. “Hindi naman ako na-inspire. Na-touch lang ako for them and naramdaman namin ‘yung overflowing na love nila for each other. I’m really happy for them that they finally tied the knot.
Now that she is still a Kapamilya, Toni is slated to do several projects on TV which include a hosting job for the upcoming season of Pinoy Big Brother and two teleseryes. On the big screen, she will also reunite with leading man Sam Milby, although it is still unclear when the cameras will start to roll.
Toni and Sam starred in the box-office hits You Are The One, You Got Me, and My Big Love, and in the teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik. For Toni, there is nothing more exciting than working with a good friend and a caring leading man like Sam.
