Actress Gretchen Barretto candidly described her “groom-to-be” on The Buzz Tough 10 yesterday (March 29), but was cautious enough not to reveal his real identity. “He’s talented. He sings. He’s got a complicated life also. He’s got a golden smile. He holds on even when I chose to let go,” Gretchen said when host Boy Abunda asked her to describe her “future husband.”
She emphasized that marriage is important to her and it is what she has always dreamt of. “I live for the moment when finally say, ‘I do,’” shared Gretchen.
When asked to describe her feelings for her mystery guy, the actress lifted a few lines from the songs Looking Through The Eyes Of Love and Never My Love which are included in her new album Complicated, “Now I do believe, that even in the storm we’ll find some light. Knowing you’re beside me, I’m alright. You ask me if there’ll come a time when I’ll grow tired of you,” she began. “Never my life, no never love (From the song, Never My Love).” For fear of revealing too much information on the guy, Gretchen refused to answer question number 5, which asked for the identity of the person she would say the words ‘don’t say goodbye to me. She also didn’t answer Boy’s question if the new man in her life has asked her to marry him.
Gretchen’s answers to the other questions though revealed her personal life experiences. “Ang love para ‘yang crystal. Kailangan you handle it with care. Pangalagaan mo. When you take care of love, makikita mo magi-sparkle ‘yon. But if you don’t handle it with care, ‘pag masyadong mahigpit ‘yung hawak mo, pwede siyang masira. And when it breaks, you can’t mend it anymore. That is love,” she said when asked to describe love. For Gretchen, love becomes really complicated when it blooms in a complex situation from the very beginning. “ ‘Pag ‘yung sitwasyon complicated to begin with, nagiging complicated ‘yung love. Kailangan kasi, buo ang loob mo. Kapag mahal mo ang tao, you really fight for it. You go for it,” she said.
Meanwhile, on the three men that made the most impact in her life, Gretchen admitted that German Moreno, Robbie Tan and Boy Abunda are her greatest influences. Gretchen adds that Boy is really a big help in her life. “Malaki ang nagawa mo sa akin, I know no matter what happens, pwede akong tumakbo sa ‘yo.”
