After becoming the first Filipino team to win in The Amazing Race Asia, Rich Herrera and Rich Hardin are now on a new leg of their newfound celebrity life: hosting. The two guys popularly known as “The Riches” are seen everyday introducing prizes and showcases on The Price is Right which is hosted by Kris Aquino.
Push.com.ph interviewed Rich Herrera during Velvet Channel’s The Best of Hollywood: A Tribute Exhibit at Rockwell PowerPlant Mall and he shared how he is having a great time being part of The Price is Right. “It’s been great so far. It’s not something that I expected I would be doing in my life. But I’ve been watching The Price is Right for a long time. I’m glad to be part of the show and contribute my thing.”
During tapings of The Price is Right, Rich said that he is always in awe to be in the presence of the Queen of All Media. “It’s great to be working with Kris Aquino. She’s a true professional. She’s very good in what she does. Rich (Hardin) and I are proud to be working with her.”
The 31-year-old Fil-American model/athlete had done some voiceover jobs in the past so reading a script on the microphone is not a new thing for him. But when it comes to learning to become a great TV host, Rich said there’s nothing like observing how Kris does her job. “Just watching her do her thing is a big advice already. She’s very patient on the set. She motivates the people around her. She brings in so much energy although I know she works a lot and she might be probably tired sometimes. With all her other commitments, she still comes to the set on time with full energy. Rich and I just try to do what she does.”
Rich admitted that he is just taking in all the opportunities that have been coming his away brought by the big break he got because of The Amazing Race Asia. Whether he will go full time in showbiz is just anyone’s guess at this time. “I’m not really sure what’s going to happen next. Let’s just all stay tuned. A lot of good things had already happened this year for me and Rich. We’ve been given the opportunity to take part in many youth development and charity projects. We’re having a great time so far.”
The Riches were chosen to be part of Velvet Channel’s The Best of Hollywood: A Tribute Exhibit wherein they were styled for a pictorial in honor of some of the unforgettable films from the Oscars’ 83-year history. The two posed wearing just shorts and with model in a bikini lying between them. Rich described the experience, “I immediately said yes to this project because I thought it would be nice to work with Dix (Perez, photographer) again. I worked with him on a lot of projects before. I know Bianca (Valerio) from before, she did our makeup here. I also know Michelle Paloma who’s the girl in the picture. She’s very gorgeous. She had done ad campaigns all over Asia. She really did us make look good in the picture.”
