Up and coming band 3 AM recently launched their self-titled debut album under Star Records. 3 AM members James Torres, Mica Caldito, and Kyle Amor performed an original cut from their album entitled “Hindi Mo Lang Alam,” plus their rehashed version of Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” during the event. The band was named 3 AM after performing on the show Music Uplate Live hosted by Yeng Constantino. The three young lads also starred as Sam Milby’s band mates in the primetime teleserye Idol.
In a chat with the press during their album launch, Kyle spoke on behalf of the band to express their gratitude to Star Records for giving them a chance to have an album. “We’re very happy that Star Records gave us the opportunity to have an album. Kaming tatlo, bata pa lang kami hilig na talaga namin ang music. Also sana itong album na ito ang maging foundation namin so we can also try other fields sa showbiz.”
Push.com.ph asked lead singer Mica on how he would distinguish 3 AM from other local bands, especially when it’s a challenge for every artist to be original and stand out. Mica explained, “Everyone has influences so I think wala ka naman talaga sigurong matatawag na totoong original. Like ang genre namin na alternative rock, napakarami nang gumagawa nun. But we do our part to be original by composing our own songs. In our album, we have our original compositions. We have a cover ng ‘Baby’ ni Justin Bieber pero iniba namin ‘yung arrangement and we made it our own. Hindi lang kami basta nanggagaya.”
Drummer James acknowledged the stiff competition in the music industry given that thousands of bands are already out there vying for airplay and gigs. But for him, 3 AM’s big advantage is their TV exposure on ABS-CBN. “Siguro ang malaking advantage na lang namin from other bands is that nasa showbiz talaga kami. Malaking tulong sa amin ‘yung Idol and ‘yung ShoutOut where we get to play our original songs at maraming tao ang nakakapanood sa amin. We feel very happy that we were blessed with these opportunities.”
3 AM is set to do a series of mall shows to promote their album. They are also slated to appear in the movie Basted headlined by Maja Salvador and Matteo Guidicelli.
